Austin Thursday Weather: The High Jumps to 81, Friday Is Now Coded for Heavy Rain, and Election Day Carries Thunderstorms (AUSTIN CAPITAL NEWS)

Thursday in Austin is warmer than the morning file had it. The station's live feed, read late this morning, puts the day at 81.1 degrees with a low of 68.8, a moderate drizzle code and a 47 percent chance of precipitation. It is 71.9 degrees and overcast in the city now, feeling like 76.3.

Friday is the week's sharp turn. The day is now coded for heavy rain - code 65, the strongest rain code on the current seven-day run - with a high of 74.2 degrees, a low of 65 and a 44 percent chance. That is also the final day of early voting in Travis County, and the wettest-looking day of the stretch for voters still planning to go.

The weekend splits. Saturday stays unsettled, coded for moderate drizzle at a 50 percent chance - the highest single-day chance on the board - with a high of 78.5. Sunday then dries out almost completely: overcast, a high of 85.4 and a precipitation chance of just 1 percent, the warm, quiet day of the week.

Monday runs warm at 85.7 degrees with a light drizzle code and a 25 percent chance. Election Day Tuesday is the change voters will feel: the day is now coded 95 - thunderstorms - with a high of 78.5, a low of 67.6 and a 47 percent chance, upgraded from the rain-showers code it carried this morning. Wednesday clears behind it, sunny at 75.9 degrees with a 5 percent chance. All figures are from the station's live Open-Meteo feed, read this cycle; the Election Day code is a forecast five days out and will be re-read every cycle.
