Austin Thursday Weather Update: The Drizzle Chance Rises to 46 Percent, Monday Turns Warm and Wet, and Election Day Is Now Coded for Rain Showers
Austin's Thursday rain chance climbed for the second file in a row — 46 percent now, on a cooler 78-degree day — and the week behind it warmed up: Monday is now a drizzle day at 86, and Election Day's code has firmed from drizzle to rain showers.

Austin woke to the same grey morning the overnight files promised, a degree warmer at the gauge: 69.6 degrees at the 08:10 read, feeling like 73.7, under overcast skies on the station's live weather feed — and a Thursday that keeps getting wetter on paper.
Thursday's drizzle chance has climbed again, from 43 percent in the 05:00 file to 46 percent, with the high trimmed to 78.1 and the low at 68.8. It is the first of early voting's two long days, with seven Travis County sites open until 10 p.m., and the read stays the same in kind if not degree: a damp trip to vote, not a washed-out one. Friday, the final day of early voting, holds overcast at 75.6 with a 48 percent rain chance, still the week's highest single figure alongside Tuesday's.
The weekend warmed. Saturday is coded for drizzle at 78.5 with a 40 percent chance — Halloween evening's planning number — and Sunday, the first day on standard time, turns overcast, warm and essentially dry at 85.4, rain chance 2 percent. Monday then flips codes entirely: drizzle now, at a summer-like 85.7, with a 27 percent rain chance.
Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, firmed up wettest of all in character: its code moved from drizzle to rain showers, high 78.5, and its 47 percent rain chance now matches Friday's at the top of the board. Voters going on the day itself should expect actual showers in the mix, not just mist. Wednesday clears and cools to 75.9. The Weather Desk refines the Election Day timing in the 17:00 file.
