Austin ISD Trustees Vote Thursday on New Boundaries for Marshall Middle School and Linder Elementary
One campus has no attendance boundary at all and the other is at risk of overcrowding - and whatever trustees approve on October 29 would not take effect until the 2027-2028 school year.

Austin ISD trustees are scheduled to vote on Thursday, October 29, on new attendance boundaries for two campuses: General Marshall Middle School and Linder Elementary School. The boundary alignment recommendations were presented at the district's October 15 Board Information Session, after a community engagement process that ran over the summer and into the new school year.
The two campuses come to the vote with opposite problems. General Marshall Middle School currently does not have a boundary line at all, while Linder Elementary School is at risk of campus overcrowding, according to the district. The realignment is meant to give Marshall a defined attendance zone and to relieve the pressure building at Linder.
Families still have a narrow window to be heard. The district asked for input through its online comment card by Thursday, October 22, to be included in the final considerations presented to the Board, but the survey remains open until the October 29 vote to capture all comments.
Whatever trustees approve will not change any child's school this year. Approved boundary changes for both Marshall and Linder will not take effect until the 2027-2028 school year - a timeline the district says gives families and staff ample time to prepare for the transition.
