Registered in Another County? You Can Still Cast a Limited Early Ballot in Travis County - at One Office Only

State law lets Texans who live in Travis County but are registered elsewhere vote early on statewide races - senator, governor, attorney general, Supreme Court - at the County Clerk's office at 5501 Airport Blvd. Local Travis County races are not on that ballot.

Registered in Another County? You Can Still Cast a Limited Early Ballot in Travis County - at One Office Only (AUSTIN CAPITAL NEWS)

For Austin residents - including the large number of University of Texas students - who are registered to vote in another Texas county, early voting in Travis County is still possible, in a limited form. Under state election law, Texas residents registered in other counties may cast limited early ballots in Travis County, covering statewide races while excluding local Travis County contests.

The limited ballot includes the races every Texas voter shares: U.S. senator, governor, attorney general and the Supreme Court justices on the ballot. What it does not include is anything local - no Travis County, city or school races. To receive one, a voter must certify a local address.

There is exactly one place to get one. Only the Travis County Clerk's Office at 5501 Airport Blvd issues limited ballots - the county's other early voting sites cannot. And the option is early-only: Texas law requires voters to cast ballots in the county where they are registered on Election Day itself.

The clock matters. Early voting ends Friday, October 30, and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. Voters who think they qualify should confirm their registration status and current county of residence with the clerk's office before heading out, while the early window is still open.
