Zilker Park's Western Great Lawn Reopens Saturday, October 31, After ACL Load-Out and Annual Maintenance
The western section of Zilker Park's Great Lawn will reopen to the public on Saturday, October 31, the Parks and Recreation Department says, with parking at the Stratford Drive lot - while the rest of the lawn turns over to Trail of Lights operations and Lou Neff Road stays closed all holiday season.

The western section of Zilker Park's Great Lawn will reopen to the public on Saturday, October 31, Austin Parks and Recreation announced on Tuesday, as the Austin City Limits Festival load-out and the park's annual maintenance period wrap up. Parking will be available through the Stratford Drive Parking Lot, and the western lawn will remain open throughout the holiday season, while the remainder of the Great Lawn transitions to Trail of Lights operations over the coming weeks.
The department's holiday-season access list spells out what else opens and what stays shut. The outdoor volleyball courts will be accessible from October 31 through November 16, and Stratford Drive and its parking remain open. Lou Neff Road, by contrast, will remain closed throughout the holiday season.
Over the past few weeks, the department's turf and Zilker maintenance teams, working alongside C3 and its contractors, have completed the recovery work on the Great Lawn: complete debris removal, irrigation repairs, lawn aeration, rye seed distribution and selective watering to aid turf recovery. The volleyball courts have been tilled and screened, and areas south of Barton Springs Road have been hydroseeded to reestablish grass.
Restoration work is still going and is expected to be complete following the Trail of Lights load-out, the department said. For the latest closures and modified operations, the city points residents to AustinTexas.gov/ParkClosures, or to call 3-1-1.
