Texas Early Voting Tops 4.39 Million Ballots Through Sunday, With Travis County at 262,721 in the State Files
The Secretary of State's daily files, updated Monday morning, show 4,394,304 ballots cast statewide through Sunday — about 23.1 percent of Texas's 19 million registered voters — with four weekdays of early voting left.

Texas early voting passed 4.39 million ballots through Sunday, October 25, according to the Secretary of State's daily county files as compiled by NewsCubby's early-vote tracker on Monday. The files show 4,394,304 ballots in all: 4,192,368 cast in person and 201,936 by mail, about 23.1 percent of the 19,041,684 registered voters listed in the same files.
Sunday alone added 184,004 in-person votes from 155 of the state's 254 counties. The other 99 counties showed no Sunday in-person votes, because some do not offer Sunday voting and others may not have reported yet. The statewide total stood at 4,207,734 through Saturday and 3,728,945 through Friday, and the tracker notes that counties keep revising their counts.
Among the largest counties, the files list Harris County at 579,313 ballots, Dallas at 371,806, Tarrant at 337,084, Travis at 262,721 and Bexar at 256,946. The Travis figure is the Secretary of State's county listing; the county clerk's own running tally, reported in this station's earlier stories, counts the local file on its own schedule, and the two series are not identical.
The figures are unofficial and county-reported, and they show ballots cast, not how anyone voted — no votes are counted or released before polls close. Texas does not register voters by party; a TargetSmart model cited by NBC News estimates the early electorate at 46 percent Republican, 44 percent Democratic and 10 percent other. In-person early voting in Texas ends Friday, October 30, ahead of Election Day on November 3.
