Spurs Beat Timberwolves 121-111: Wembanyama Scores 43 on Halloween as San Antonio Wins Its Fourth Straight
Victor Wembanyama arrived in costume and played like the main event. His season-high 43 points, seven rebounds and six blocks carried San Antonio past a short-handed Minnesota team 121-111 at Frost Bank Center on Saturday night, the Spurs' fourth win in a row.

The Halloween show at Frost Bank Center belonged to the home team's star. Victor Wembanyama, who arrived dressed as Geralt of Rivia — the Witcher — scored a season-high 43 points with seven rebounds, six blocks and four assists as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 121-111 on Saturday night for their fourth straight victory, Reuters and the Associated Press reported.
Minnesota made the Spurs earn it despite a gutted roster: the Timberwolves were already missing Anthony Edwards (knee) and Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles surgery), and Rudy Gobert sat out with low back spasms, Reuters reported. Ayo Dosunmu carried them with 27 points and nine rebounds, and Minnesota actually led 61-60 at halftime after a 16-0 second-quarter run — back-to-back Wembanyama three-pointers just before the break kept San Antonio within a point, with his 24 first-half points leading all scorers.
The second half tilted on one burst: a 12-2 Spurs run stretched the lead to 101-88, and when Minnesota clawed back within four on a Jaden McDaniels jumper with 6:49 to play, San Antonio answered 6-2 and Wembanyama's three-pointer with 2:40 left — 118-107 — closed the argument, Reuters reported. Dylan Harper added 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists — a regular-season career high for the rookie — and De'Aaron Fox scored 22 with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Wembanyama reached 40 points for the 10th time in a regular-season game, the AP noted, on 17-of-34 shooting. San Antonio improves to 4-2 and hosts Utah on Monday in the second game of a three-game homestand; Minnesota, 4-3 and a loser for the third time in four games, plays at Milwaukee on Monday.
