The League of Legends World Championship is down to eight teams. LoL Worlds 2026: Karmine Corp, LYON and BLG Take the Last Knockout Spots, and the Quarterfinal Draw Is Set (AUSTIN CAPITAL NEWS)

The biggest tournament in League of Legends has its final eight. The 2026 World Championship's Swiss Stage concluded Saturday, and the last three places in the single-elimination Knockout Stage went to Bilibili Gaming, LYON and Karmine Corp, Insider Gaming reported — setting a quarterfinal draw headlined by Karmine Corp against T1.

Karmine Corp's path was the story of the day. The European side, which had to survive the Play-In stage just to reach the Swiss rounds, beat its rivals Movistar KOI 2-0 to qualify — revenge, Insider Gaming noted, for KOI's win over Karmine Corp in the LEC Summer Playoffs in Karmine Corp's home country. KOI had opened Worlds by shocking BLG and starting 2-0, then lost every remaining series.

LYON ended a piece of history in the making: Brazil's LOS stood one match from becoming the first CBLOL team ever to reach the Worlds Knockouts, but LYON recovered from losing Game 1 to close the series out. And BLG, one of the pre-tournament favorites, survived its elimination meeting with Hanwha Life Esports behind the play of the day — a four-man Shockwave from Zhuo 'Knight' Ding, timed with an Ezreal ultimate, for a game-winning quadra kill while BLG stood 4,000 gold behind.

The quarterfinals now read: Dplus Kia (3-0 in Swiss) against BLG (3-2); Karmine Corp (3-2) against T1 (3-1); Gen.G (3-0) against LYON (3-2); and an all-Chinese meeting of Top Esports (3-1) and Invictus Gaming (3-1). Nineteen teams entered Worlds 2026 in October; eight remain, and every series from here is an elimination.
