Lions Beat the Vikings 19-15: the NFL's Last Undefeated Team Falls, and Jahmyr Gibbs Runs for 153 Yards
Minnesota was the league's last perfect record. Detroit ended it at Ford Field - Gibbs broke the game open in the third quarter, Goff won it with 4:35 left, and the 1972 Dolphins' champagne stays on ice for another year.
Jared Goff threw a go-ahead, 7-yard touchdown pass to Jameson Williams with 4:35 left, and the Detroit Lions beat the Minnesota Vikings 19-15 on Sunday, handing the NFL's last undefeated team its first loss, the Associated Press reported.
Jahmyr Gibbs ran for 153 yards, including a 30-yard, tackle-breaking touchdown in the third quarter that put Detroit ahead, and added two catches for 15 yards, on 23 carries in all. Goff was 18 of 25 for 176 yards with the one touchdown. Detroit (5-2) has won three straight, including its first two division games in the tight NFC North - and did it on Sunday despite losing several defensive players, including linebacker Jack Campbell, NBC Sports reported.
Minnesota (6-1) had not lost since Nov. 30, 2025, at Seattle, and its league-leading defense could not hold the late lead. The wider consequence travels beyond the division: with the last unbeaten team beaten on the first day of November, the 1972 Miami Dolphins remain the NFL's only undefeated champions for another season, the Palm Beach Post noted.
