The Contemporary Austin is opening its downtown Jones Center free to all visitors for five days, from Wednesday, October 28 through Sunday, November 1, the museum's events calendar says. Two exhibitions are on view during the free week: "The Living Temple: The World of Moki Cherry" and "HOST: Laura Lit."

The Jones Center, at 700 Congress Avenue, is open from noon to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, according to the Tribeza event listing. Capacity is limited and advance registration is recommended, the listing says — the one planning note worth heeding before a weekend visit.

The free week carries programming of its own. On Wednesday evening, the museum hosts Deep Listening Sessions with host Jesse Ebaugh from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., part of its ongoing series of themed vinyl listening sessions, its calendar says. The week closes Sunday, November 1 with a public curator-led tour of both exhibitions from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.

For downtown workers and residents, Wednesday is the value pick of the run: the longest hours of the week, the listening session in the evening, and no admission charge at the door.
