Austin Friday Weather: Rain at 70.9 Degrees for the Last Day of Early Voting, Halloween Drizzle at Just 15 Percent, and Election Day Showers at 49
The 8 a.m. feed strengthened Friday's rain for voters, softened Halloween to drizzle at a 15 percent chance, and re-coded Election Day from thunderstorms to rain showers — still at the week's highest 49 percent.

Friday's rain is firmer on the 8 a.m. feed. The station's live Open-Meteo feed, read at about 8:05 a.m., put Austin at 64.3 degrees, feeling like 65, under overcast skies, and Friday's own code strengthened from rain (61) to moderate rain (63), with a high of 70.9 degrees, a low of 63.8 and a 47 percent precipitation chance. Voters heading out for the last day of early voting should take the umbrella, not just the jacket.
Halloween moved the other way, and it is the morning's best news. Saturday's code eased from overcast to drizzle (53), its high held at 73.6 degrees with a low of 64.8, and its precipitation chance fell from 24 percent to 15 percent — the driest Halloween reading of the week, good news for trick-or-treating, the Texas-Mississippi State crowd and the Sixth Street closures. Sunday stays the warm break: overcast, 83.7 degrees, a low of 68.3 and a 7 percent chance.
Monday holds warm and overcast at 86.9 degrees with a 25 percent chance, and Election Day changed character without changing odds. Tuesday's code moved from thunderstorms (95) to rain showers (80), still at a 49 percent precipitation chance, with a high of 77.8 and a low of 68.7 — showers are a lesser disruption than storms for Travis County's 201 Election Day sites, but the rain plan still applies.
Behind the election the feed clears and warms: Wednesday is clear at 78.7 degrees with a 2 percent chance, and Thursday is overcast at 81.2 with a 4 percent chance. All figures are single-feed reads and will be re-read for the 17:00 file.
