Uzuni Scores Twice as Austin FC Rallies to Win 2-1 at Kansas City and Keep Its Season Alive
Myrto Uzuni equalized in the 64th minute and won it in the 86th as Austin FC snapped a three-game losing streak on Saturday night — and the Verde & Black come home to Q2 Stadium on Wednesday night.

Austin FC's season is still breathing. Myrto Uzuni scored two second-half goals and Austin rallied for a 2-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night at Sporting Park, snapping a three-game losing streak and ending a five-game winless stretch with the club's first victory since September 13, the Associated Press reported.
Sporting Kansas City struck first. Stephen Afrifa opened the scoring in the 55th minute, finishing a pass from Andre Luiz, and the hosts — last in the Western Conference and already eliminated from playoff contention — held the lead for nine minutes. Uzuni tied it in the 64th: his initial header was saved by goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland, but Uzuni was first to the rebound and followed it in, according to the AP account and the club's official recap.
The winner came the way late-season winners often do — off a mistake. In the 86th minute, a Kansas City defender failed to clear, Uzuni pounced on the loose ball in front of goal and finished for his second of the night, sealing his first multi-goal game in MLS play since joining Austin in 2025, the AP reported. Austin improved to 8-13-10 on the season.
Austin entered the weekend staring at elimination scenarios in the league's Matchday 32 rundown; the win survived them all. The Verde & Black now come home: Austin FC hosts Real Salt Lake on Wednesday, October 28, at 7:30 p.m. at Q2 Stadium, the club announced — the first of two home dates in the season's final stretch.
