The last two days of early voting are the long ones. Travis County's early-voting sites are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday as usual — and seven of them stay open three hours later, until 10 p.m., on both October 29 and October 30, according to the Travis County Clerk's official early-voting flyer for the November 3 election.

The seven extended-hours sites are spread across the county: the Ben Hur Shrine Center on Rockwood Lane, the Lakeway Activity Center, the Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex on Hargrave Street, the PfISD Rock Gym in Pflugerville, the Randalls Brodie café in South Austin, the Travis County Clerk's early voting room on Airport Boulevard, and the UT Texas Union. Travis County votes at countywide vote centers, so any registered Travis County voter can use any open site, extended or not.

Plenty of Austin has already voted. Through Sunday, 242,039 Travis County voters had cast ballots in person or by mail — just over 25 percent of the county's 952,713 registered voters — and the busiest single day so far was the first one, October 19, at 49,987. The county runs 45 early-voting sites in all.

Early voting ends at the close of Friday, October 30. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, with polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. county-wide, and anyone in line at closing can still vote. The Chamber's voter guide offers the standing booth advice: research the long ballot beforehand and bring your picks on paper — phones are not allowed in the room where voting takes place.
