Texas Flips Three-Star Linebacker RJ Hudson From Clemson After His Weekend Visit for the Ole Miss Win (AUSTIN CAPITAL NEWS)

Texas has flipped a linebacker from Clemson. Three-star linebacker RJ Hudson has committed to the Longhorns, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals, in a report published Monday by Longhorns Wire - two days after Hudson's official visit to Austin for Saturday's 34-27 win over Ole Miss.

Hudson had been committed to Clemson before backing off that pledge on October 9, after Texas offered him a scholarship on September 21. The visit this past weekend completed the flip, Longhorns Wire reported.

Hudson, a Richmond, Virginia native who plays at Varina High School, is rated the No. 511 overall player and the No. 42 linebacker in the Rivals industry rating, and the No. 15 player from Virginia. His senior-season statistics were not available in the report; as a junior he finished with 45 tackles, 13.0 sacks, 21.0 tackles for loss, two pass breakups and an interception returned for a touchdown, helping Varina win the Class 4 state championship.

He is Texas' first commitment at linebacker in the 2027 recruiting cycle. His addition gives the Longhorns 22 commits overall, 13 of them blue-chip prospects, and Rivals ranks the Texas class ninth in the country and fourth in the SEC.
