Texas Final Early Vote Tops 7.7 Million Ballots, and Travis County's Own Count Closes at 447,689 - 47.2 Percent of Its Voters
The early vote did not just beat 2022. It passed 2022's entire early total before the final day was counted - and nearly half of Travis County had already voted when the doors closed Friday.

Texas has posted its final early-voting count, and it is above 7.7 million ballots. The Secretary of State's file, as compiled on November 1, counts 7,716,720 ballots returned through the close of early voting on Friday, October 30 - 7,456,377 cast in person and 260,343 by mail - with 851,620 of them returned on the final day alone. Harris County led the state with 1,074,580 early ballots.
The scale is clearest against the last midterm. The state's last complete report before the finale, through October 29, already held 6,855,947 early ballots - 36.0 percent of registered voters - which by itself beats the entire early vote of 2022, 5,497,027, according to the Texpolls tracker of the Secretary of State's reports. The tracker's unofficial through-October 30 total, 7,706,981, notes the state's final-day report is not yet complete and may run slightly low.
In Travis County, the county's own official daily totals sheet closes the local record at 447,689 early ballots - 47.20 percent of the county's 948,575 registered voters - built from 427,412 in-person voters at early-voting locations, 3,484 limited ballots and 16,793 mail ballots received. Friday's final day drew 49,398 voters, second only to opening day's 49,987. The state's file lists Travis County higher, at 453,646; the county's own sheet is the figure the local record stands on. What remains is Election Day itself, Tuesday, November 3 - the ballots of everyone who waited, cast at 201 Travis County vote centers from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
