Steph Curry Scores 44 as the Warriors Hold On to Beat the Timberwolves 119-114, With Anthony Edwards Out
Stephen Curry's season had been quiet by his standards. Wednesday in Minneapolis it was not: 44 points, six 3-pointers and a perfect 16-of-16 at the line, as Golden State built a 24-point lead and then held off a fourth-quarter rally to beat an Edwards-less Minnesota 119-114.

Stephen Curry picked Wednesday night in Minneapolis to look like Stephen Curry again. Held to 24 points or fewer through the season's first three games, the 38-year-old guard scored a season-high 44 as the Golden State Warriors beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 119-114 at Target Center.
Curry shot 11-of-27 with six 3-pointers and went 16-of-16 from the free-throw line, adding eight rebounds and six assists in 32 minutes. Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg followed his 31-point Monday with 26 points and nine rebounds, and Golden State took a 93-81 lead into the fourth quarter after leading by as many as 24.
Minnesota's comeback was its first real test of life without Anthony Edwards — and it nearly passed. The Timberwolves announced Tuesday that Edwards, who averaged 33.3 points through their first four games, will miss extended time after arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. Jonathan Kuminga, facing his former team, led Minnesota with 20, and Jaden McDaniels and Terrence Shannon Jr. added 19 each as the Wolves cut it to a one-possession game late before McDaniels missed two late threes.
Golden State (2-3) has won two straight after opening 0-3; Minnesota (3-2) has dropped two in a row after starting 3-0. The Warriors host the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night; the Timberwolves host the Los Angeles Clippers the same night.
