Patrick Mahomes Launches the '15 and FARE' Food-Allergy Initiative Days After the Chiefs' First Loss
The Tyler native's foundation is teaming with FARE to train food banks, pantries and restaurants — starting with Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que — in the same week Kansas City tries to rebound from a 20-3 loss at Seattle.

Patrick Mahomes spent the week after his first loss of the season launching something bigger than a game plan. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback's charity, the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, has publicized a new initiative with Food Allergy Research & Development (FARE) called 15 and FARE, Athlon Sports reported on Wednesday.
The initiative aims to bring "FARE Neighborhoods" to the Kansas City area to reduce inequities in access to care, support and resources for people with food allergies living in marginalized communities, according to the report. 15 and FARE will also provide academy training for the staff of certain food banks, pantries and restaurants in the community, hoping to keep food-allergy patients safer. On Tuesday, the first "15 and FARE Restaurant Partner" was revealed: Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que, whose management staff have become certified in food allergy preparation and handling over the past two years. Mahomes shared Joe's announcement on his Instagram Story on Tuesday.
Mahomes and his wife Brittany founded the foundation in 2019, before his second season as the Chiefs' starter, to improve the lives of children through health and wellness initiatives, Athlon reported. Mahomes, a Tyler, Texas native and the former Texas Tech quarterback, is in his 10th NFL season and has also co-owned sports franchises including the Kansas City Royals and Sporting Kansas City.
On the field, the week began with a thud: Mahomes and the Chiefs suffered their first defeat of the 2026 season on Sunday, falling to 5-1 after a 20-3 loss to Sam Darnold and the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. Mahomes has completed 124 of 191 passes for 1,474 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions this season. Kansas City now heads to Denver to face Bo Nix and the Broncos on Sunday, with kickoff at 4:25 p.m. ET.
