College Basketball Is Back: a Loaded Opening Day Runs From Houston-La Salle to Gonzaga-Purdue and Arizona-UCLA
Texas tips off at the Moody Center tonight - and so does everybody else. Monday's opening slate is stacked from noon to midnight.

College basketball returns in full force on Monday, November 2, with an opening-day schedule featuring many of the nation's most recognizable programs, several nationally ranked teams and a collection of games that should immediately capture fans' attention, Busting Brackets reported. The headline games pair ranked programs right away: Florida begins its season against Miami, Gonzaga faces Purdue in Las Vegas, and Arizona and UCLA meet later in the evening.
Texas programs fill the undercard with history. Houston opens the regular season against La Salle at the Fertitta Center - only the second meeting between the programs and the first since the 1975-76 season, the Cougars' schedule release noted. Baylor hosts Northwestern State at 8:30 p.m. Central at Foster Pavilion in Waco, and the Texas A&M women open against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 7 p.m. Central at Reed Arena in College Station, the Sportradar fixtures showed. Austin's own opener - No. 7 Texas against Chicago State at the Moody Center - is covered in this station's earlier preview.
The rest of the national slate reads like a tournament weekend. Duke hosts Army, Illinois welcomes Fairleigh Dickinson and UConn opens against Gardner-Webb, Busting Brackets reported. Michigan hosts Oakland, Memphis travels to Iowa State for an early test for both teams, and Ohio State meets BYU. By midnight, every contender will have a first impression on file - and, for one night at least, a perfect record is the most common one in the country.
