Cleveland Browns Quarterback Trade Rumors: the Browns Are Not Trading Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel Before the Deadline, Reports Say

Four quarterbacks on one roster is the kind of surplus that starts rumors. Cleveland's answer, nine days before the Nov. 10 deadline, is that the room stays intact — Sanders is the backup, Gabriel is back, and only an offer they cannot refuse changes it.

Cleveland Browns Quarterback Trade Rumors: the Browns Are Not Trading Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel Before the Deadline, Reports Say (AUSTIN CAPITAL NEWS)

The Cleveland Browns still have no plans to move on from either Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel, even with four quarterbacks occupying spots on their active roster, according to reporting by Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com carried Sunday by Heavy and Yardbarker.

With the Nov. 10 trade deadline approaching, Cabot reported that despite Gabriel being activated to the 53-man roster this week and the Browns seemingly having a surplus at the spot, they are not looking to trade either Sanders or Gabriel before the deadline. 'Of course, everyone has a price, and if someone makes them an offer they can't refuse, they'll be open to it. But they like the fact that they have three developmental quarterbacks on the roster, and will have a more cap-friendly quarterback room next season,' Cabot reported. Sanders has been the primary name in the external chatter as he awaits his next chance to play, and his decision to hire an agent last month fueled the speculation — a move Cabot has previously reported was not made to request a trade, with Cleveland still viewing him as its next option behind Deshaun Watson.

The depth chart itself is settled at the top. Head coach Todd Monken confirmed Sanders would remain the backup for the Pittsburgh matchup even after Gabriel's activation. 'Yeah. Shedeur's our backup quarterback,' Monken said Friday. Gabriel returned to the 53-man roster on October 26 after missing Cleveland's first seven games with a back injury, joining Watson, Sanders and rookie Taylen Green in the room. Watson's own future is the longer question — he is in the final season of his five-year, $230 million contract, threw for 308 yards in last week's win over Tennessee, and owner Jimmy Haslam has resisted getting ahead of any decision about a return in 2027. For now, the 5-2 Browns carry the depth into the deadline rather than shop it.
