Bears at Seahawks on Monday Night Football: 5-2 Chicago Takes the League's Test to Lumen Field Against Seattle's Defense (AUSTIN CAPITAL NEWS)

Week 8 ends tonight at Lumen Field, where the Chicago Bears (5-2) visit the Seattle Seahawks (4-3) on Monday Night Football. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. Central on ESPN, per Sportradar's fixture record, and the matchup is built on a collision: Chicago's offense against Seattle's defense.

The numbers frame it plainly, according to Inside the Gridiron's preview. The Bears run for about 154 yards a game; Seattle allows about 89 on the ground. Chicago throws for nearly 255 yards a game; Seattle allows just 158 through the air, gives up nearly 18 points a game while scoring 24, and held its last visitor, Kansas City, to 3 points in a 20-3 win. Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold has thrown 8 touchdowns against 8 interceptions, and his leading target, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, has 58 catches for 867 yards and 8 touchdowns. For Chicago, D'Andre Swift has rushed for 476 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Both teams arrive short-handed. Seattle has ruled out left tackle Charles Cross and receiver Rashid Shaheed, and Chicago is without running back Kyle Monangai, according to the Winners and Whiners preview. DraftKings lists Seattle as a three-point favorite with a total of 46.5, as carried by both previews. Chicago arrives off a win over New England and Seattle off the 20-3 defeat of Kansas City - and by midnight, one of the NFC's two surprise starts will have taken a real dent.
