Austin Night Weather: Friday's Rain Chance Rises to 61 Percent for the Last Day of Early Voting, Halloween Dries Out, and Election Day's Storm Chance Falls to 43

The late feed moved the water around the calendar: Friday got wetter, Saturday got drier, and Election Day kept its thunderstorms but at lower odds - still out of a warm 68-degree night.

Austin Night Weather: Friday's Rain Chance Rises to 61 Percent for the Last Day of Early Voting, Halloween Dries Out, and Election Day's Storm Chance Falls to 43 (AUSTIN CAPITAL NEWS)

Thursday closed as the feed said it would: Austin sat at 69.0 degrees and overcast late Thursday night, feeling like 71.2, on a day that finished at a high of 74.7 and a low of 68.0 with a 60 percent precipitation reading on the light-drizzle code.

Friday changed the most, and Friday matters: it is the last day of early voting, and the late feed raised its rain chance from 57 to 61 percent, still coded as rain (61), with the high up to 72.4 and the low at 64.3. Voters heading to the seven sites that stay open until 10 p.m. should expect the wettest day of the week so far.

Saturday moved the other way. Halloween was re-coded from moderate drizzle to simply overcast, its rain chance fell from 43 to 38 percent, and its high eased to 77.2 with a low of 63.6 - a mostly dry-looking evening for trick-or-treating. Sunday stayed warm and dry behind it: overcast, 85.1 degrees, a low of 68.4 and a 2 percent chance. Monday kept its drizzle code with the chance rising from 22 to 31 percent at 87.6 degrees.

Election Day kept its shape and lost some certainty. Tuesday still carries the thunderstorm code (95) and the warm setup the evening file flagged - a high of 77.9 out of a low of 68.0 - but its precipitation chance fell from 54 to 43 percent. Wednesday behind the front stayed clear, 75.9 and 63.0 with a 2 percent chance. All figures are single-feed reads and will be re-read in the morning cycle.
