Austin Night Weather: Friday's Rain Chance Rises to 57 Percent for the Last Day of Early Voting, and Election Day's Storms Hold at 54
Thursday closed warmer than the evening file expected, and Friday got wetter on paper. The station's live feed, read Thursday night, puts the last day of early voting at a 57 percent rain chance - up from 50 - with Saturday's chance also climbing.

Thursday's number is final, and it beat the forecast. The station's live feed, read at about 6:07 p.m., shows Austin at 73.4 degrees and overcast, feeling like 74.3, with the day closing on a light-drizzle code, a high of 74.7 and a low of 68.2 - the high a full degree above the 73.8 the late-afternoon feed had carried, on a day that began with an 81-degree morning read.
Friday, the last day of Travis County early voting, moved the wet way. The evening feed still codes the day 61 - rain, not the heavy rain of Wednesday's outlook - with a high of 70.7 and a low of 63.7, but the chance of precipitation rose from 50 percent in the afternoon read to 57 percent tonight. Seven county sites vote until 10 p.m. Friday; the feed now says most of that long day carries better-than-even odds of rain at some point.
Saturday followed it upward: moderate drizzle at a 40 percent chance, up from 34, with a high of 78.5 and a low of 64.0. Halloween evening in Austin now carries a two-in-five rain chance on the current feed, where the afternoon read had it at one in three.
The rest of the board held. Sunday is overcast and dry at 84.5 degrees with a 3 percent chance, Monday warm at 86.9 with a 22 percent chance, and Election Day Tuesday keeps its thunderstorm code - a high of 77.8, a low of 64.8 and a 54 percent chance, unchanged from the afternoon. Wednesday behind the front is mostly clear at 72.8 with a 2 percent chance. Friday's voters and Saturday's trick-or-treaters are the two groups the rising chances touch; both numbers are single-feed reads and will be re-read every cycle.
