Austin Friday Weather: Halloween's Rain Chance Eases to 33 Percent, and Election Day's Showers Firm Up at 53
The afternoon feed took some of the sting out of Saturday: Halloween's rain code softened to light rain at 33 percent. Friday stays wet at 86 percent, and Tuesday's Election Day showers firmed to a rain-shower code at a warmer 79.6.

Austin stood at 72.1 degrees and overcast on Friday afternoon, feeling like 73.7, with the day's rain chance holding at 86 percent under a rain code (63) and a high now expected at 72.8. The last hours of early voting stay wet - that part of the forecast has not moved since midday.
Halloween, however, got better. Saturday's rain chance eased from 45 percent in the midday reading to 33 percent, and its weather code softened from rain (63) to light rain and drizzle (61), at the same high of 73.2 degrees and a low of 64.8. For a Saturday built outdoors - the Sixth Street street party, trick-or-treating, and a 6:30 p.m. kickoff at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium - that is the difference between planning around rain and merely packing a jacket for it.
The dry-out behind it holds. Sunday turns overcast and warm at 82.4 degrees with a 17 percent rain chance, and Monday reaches 85.6 at 12 percent. Election Day, Tuesday, firmed up in the other direction: its code moved from showers (80) to rain showers (81), the high rose to 79.6 from 77.8, and the rain chance held at 53 percent - a genuinely showery election day, not a washout, but wet enough to matter for the walk to the polls.
Wednesday and Thursday both clear completely under code 0 - highs of 79.0 and 79.9, rain chances of 4 and 10 percent. The pattern in one line: a wet Friday finish, a gentler Halloween than feared, a warm dry weekend tail, and one showery Tuesday standing between Austin and a clear election week.
