Austin FC and Real Salt Lake Are Scoreless Through the First Half-Hour at Q2, With Uzuni's Early Effort the Only Shot on Target
Austin FC's must-win night at Q2 Stadium is 0-0 through 27 minutes against Real Salt Lake. Myrto Uzuni forced the game's only save at 3 minutes; Salt Lake has held most of the ball, and Dominik Marczuk has put three efforts off target.
Austin FC's season is on the line at Q2 Stadium on Wednesday night, and the first half-hour has produced pressure without a goal. Austin and Real Salt Lake are tied 0-0 at 27 minutes, according to the live match feed, in a game Austin effectively must win to keep its playoff chance alive into the season's final stretch.
The game's only shot on target so far belongs to Austin. Myrto Uzuni — the forward who scored twice in Saturday's win at Kansas City — tested the Salt Lake goalkeeper at 3 minutes and put two more efforts off target in the opening eight minutes, and Jon Gallagher shot off target at 20 minutes. Salt Lake's threat has run through Dominik Marczuk, off target at 17, 21 and 25 minutes, and Sergi Solans, off target at 6.
The possession count tells the other half of the story. Elbotola's live match page had Salt Lake with 64 percent of the ball at 22 minutes, against Austin's 36 — Austin has been the more direct side, Salt Lake the more patient one, and neither has broken through. The match is refereed by Ricardo Montero Araya.
This is a first-half file: the match was in progress when this story was staged. The Sports Desk will file the result after the final whistle.
