Austin Police Seek a Suspect in a String of East Austin Business Burglaries Stretching From March to October
The break-ins hit several East Austin businesses, safes and registers emptied, one of them The Dainty Dillo on East Cesar Chavez. Police have released surveillance images and a description, and a reward of up to $1,000 may be available.

Austin police are asking for the public's help identifying a man suspected of breaking into several East Austin businesses and stealing money from safes and cash registers, the department said in an account reported this weekend.
According to the Austin Police Department, the burglaries occurred between March and October 2026 and included The Dainty Dillo, at 3201 E. Cesar Chavez St. Investigators said the suspect targeted multiple businesses, taking cash from safes and registers, and concealed his face during each burglary by pulling a hoodie tightly over his head. Police released surveillance images in hopes someone recognizes him. APD described the suspect as a man between 20 and 30 years old, approximately 6 feet tall with an athletic build, seen wearing a dark blue or black hooded jacket with white stripes running down the sleeves.
Anyone with information is asked to contact APD's Commercial Burglary Unit at APDCommercialBurglary@austintexas.gov. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Capital Area Crime Stoppers or by calling 512-472-8477, and a reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest. Police have not announced an arrest in the series; the man in the surveillance images is described by the department as a suspect, and this story will be updated if APD identifies or arrests anyone.
