76ers Beat Hornets 109-104: Maxey Scores 38 and a 13-0 Run Steals It Late in Charlotte
Down seven late, without their two biggest names, Philadelphia leaned on the guard who has scored at least 26 in every game this season — and Tyrese Maxey delivered 38 and the closing run.

Tyrese Maxey scored a season-high 38 points and the Philadelphia 76ers scored 13 consecutive points down the stretch to beat the Charlotte Hornets 109-104 on Saturday night, Reuters reported. Maxey made 12 of 23 shots (13 of 23 in one box-score account), including four 3-pointers, and went 8-for-9 from the free-throw line. He has scored at least 26 points in every game this season.
The comeback came from 101-94 down. VJ Edgecombe's 3-pointer with about 36 seconds left pushed the run ahead, Maxey's free throws capped the 13-0 surge, and after Brandon Miller's three pulled Charlotte within 107-104 with seven seconds remaining, Jaylen Brown — back in the lineup after a knee issue, with 16 points — hit two free throws to seal it. Anfernee Simons added 19 off the bench for Philadelphia (6-1), which is 3-0 on the road and won on the second night of a back-to-back without LeBron James and Joel Embiid, both rested.
Grayson Allen's season-high 27 points led Charlotte, with Miller adding 24, but the Hornets have now lost three times in a four-night stretch. Both teams are off until Monday: Philadelphia hosts Chicago, and Charlotte hosts Detroit.
