Early Voting in Travis County: Where to Vote Monday and What Is on Austin's Long Ballot (AUSTIN CAPITAL NEWS)

Monday is a voting day in Travis County. Early voting for the November joint general and special elections runs through Friday, October 30, and the Travis County Clerk lists Monday, October 26, among the voting days, with polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The county operates 44 early-voting sites, and Travis County voters may cast a ballot at any of them, during early voting and on Election Day - near home, near work, or anywhere in the county. Seven sites stay open until 10 p.m. on the final two days, Thursday, October 29, and Friday, October 30, for voters who cannot make the regular hours.

The ballot is long. At the top, voters decide a U.S. Senate race and the statewide offices of governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, land commissioner, agriculture commissioner and comptroller, along with congressional and legislative offices, State Board of Education seats and judicial races, according to the ballot rundown compiled from the Secretary of State and Austin-area counties.

Locally, five Austin City Council seats are up for grabs, along with Travis County's judge and clerk seats, five Austin ISD board positions, two bond proposals and a set of city charter changes, including one that would mandate outside audits of City Hall. Voters should bring a photo ID, and can look up their own sample ballot through the county clerk's voter lookup before they go.

Two deadlines in this cycle have already passed: registration closed October 5, and the last day to apply for a ballot by mail was October 23. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.
