Travis County Early Voting Ends at 447,689 Ballots: 47.2 Percent of Registered Voters, and a Final-Day Surge of 49,398 (AUSTIN CAPITAL NEWS)

Early voting in Travis County ended Friday with a surge that nearly matched the biggest day of the whole period. A total of 447,689 people voted early between October 19 and October 30 - 47.20 percent of the county's 948,575 registered voters - according to the unofficial totals from the Travis County Clerk's Elections Division.

Friday alone drew 49,398 voters, the second-highest single-day figure of the 12 days and only 589 behind opening day's 49,987. It was a jump of roughly 30 percent over Thursday's 37,932. Of Friday's voters, 47,716 cast ballots in person, 612 mail ballots were received, and 1,070 were limited ballots - a category that grew from just 40 on opening day to 3,484 across the period.

Across the full run, 427,412 ballots were cast in person and 16,793 by mail. The busiest sites on the final day were the PfISD Rock Gym with 1,820 voters, Bee Cave City Hall with 1,785 and the Ben Hur Shrine Center with 1,780. The shape of the period was a strong opening, a quiet first weekend - Sunday, October 25 was the slowest day at 18,733 - and a steady second-week climb into Friday's finish.

All of these figures are unofficial and can change as the county finalizes its counts. What is fixed is the calendar: early voting is closed, and the remaining Travis County voters have one day left - Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, when vote centers are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
