Texas early voting has passed another milestone. As of Thursday, October 29, a total of 6,103,792 ballots had been cast across Texas in the November midterm election - 5,868,131 of them in person and 235,661 by mail - according to the On Point Politics early-vote tracker, which compiles counts from state election offices via civicAPI. The tracker puts the state's pace about 22 percent ahead of the comparable point in past cycles on its benchmark panel.

Travis County's share keeps climbing with the state. The tracker's county table counts 367,198 ballots in Travis County - 353,087 in person and 14,111 by mail - up from the County Clerk's unofficial Day-10 total of 360,302 reported earlier Thursday. Harris County leads the state at 781,764 ballots, followed by Dallas at 502,214, Tarrant at 476,879 and Bexar at 427,111; Williamson County, Travis's northern neighbor, stands at 190,922.

One caution belongs in every early-vote story, and the tracker states it itself: Texas does not publish the party of its early voters. Any party split attached to these ballots is a model, not a count, and this desk reports the counts.

Two days of early voting remain. Polls run through Friday, October 30 - with seven Travis County sites open until 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday - and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
