Rockets Run Away From the Bucks 132-100 in Milwaukee, Winning Big Without Sengun

Houston went into Milwaukee without its starting center and left with a 32-point win. Fred VanVleet scored 24, Amen Thompson 23 and Kevin Durant 18 as the Rockets seized the game with a 15-2 run across the first two quarters and never gave it back in a 132-100 rout of the Bucks.

Rockets Run Away From the Bucks 132-100 in Milwaukee, Winning Big Without Sengun (AUSTIN CAPITAL NEWS)

The Houston Rockets did not miss a beat without Alperen Sengun. Houston beat the Milwaukee Bucks 132-100 on Wednesday night in Milwaukee, a wire-to-wire kind of win built in the first half and finished in the third quarter.

Amen Thompson set the terms early, scoring 11 of his 23 points in the first quarter and fueling a 15-2 run that bridged the opening two periods and gave Houston control. Fred VanVleet closed the argument after halftime, scoring 15 of his 24 points in the third quarter, and Kevin Durant added 18. The Rockets were playing without Sengun, their starting center, who sat with a back injury, and without guard Marcus Smart, out with an elbow injury.

Milwaukee's offense never found a second gear. Tyler Herro led the Bucks with 23 points and four 3-pointers, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. chipped in 19 — but the Bucks' three remaining starters, Myles Turner, Kyle Kuzma and Ryan Rollins, combined to shoot 6-for-27 from the floor for just 12 points between them.

A 32-point road win, on a night the Rockets were missing their center, is the kind of result that travels. Houston's depth produced it; Milwaukee's starters, Herro aside, never answered it.
