Nikola Jokic Records His 200th Career Triple-Double as the Nuggets Beat the Pelicans 104-91

Only two men in NBA history have done it 200 times, and the second one did it Wednesday night in New Orleans. Nikola Jokic's 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists carried Denver past the Pelicans 104-91 — and put him nine behind Russell Westbrook's all-time record.

Nikola Jokic Records His 200th Career Triple-Double as the Nuggets Beat the Pelicans 104-91 (AUSTIN CAPITAL NEWS)

Nikola Jokic joined one of the smallest clubs in basketball on Wednesday night. The Denver Nuggets center finished with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in a 104-91 win over the host New Orleans Pelicans — the 200th triple-double of his career, making him only the second player in NBA history to reach the mark, Reuters reported.

The company is singular: Russell Westbrook, the all-time leader with 209 triple-doubles across 18 seasons. Jokic, a 12-year veteran, is now nine behind him. Wednesday's was his second triple-double of the young season — and, fittingly for a player who seems to keep appointments with the same opponents, both have come against New Orleans.

Denver needed the full roster around the milestone. All five Nuggets finished in double figures, led by Jamal Murray's 23 points; Aaron Gordon posted 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Christian Braun's back-to-back 3-pointers in a critical late stretch held off the Pelicans' push, with Braun finishing at 12 and Trevon Brazile adding 11.

New Orleans got a game-high 25 points from Zion Williamson and an 11-point, 12-rebound double-double off the bench from Derik Queen — but no other Pelican scored more than 11, and Denver's balance closed the night. The record watch now runs all season: at Jokic's career pace, Westbrook's 209 is not a question of if, but of which month.
