The Battle Line trophy is staying with Missouri. The No. 23 Tigers beat Arkansas 34-10 in Fayetteville on Saturday night, in the final version of the rivalry game this station previewed in the evening — a game Missouri controlled from a 10-0 first quarter onward.

The margin was built on mistakes. Three Arkansas turnovers led to 17 Missouri points, the Southwest Times Record reported from its live file, and the Razorbacks' best answer of the second half summed up their night: a 20-play, 10-minute drive reached the end zone, a chop-block penalty took the touchdown off the board, and Arkansas settled for a 32-yard field goal and a 27-10 deficit that was still three scores.

Austin Simmons threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jamal Roberts with 7:19 left in the fourth quarter for the final 34-10 margin, the Columbia Tribune reported, and Missouri ran out the clock from there. The quarter line told the story: Missouri 10, 3, 14 and 7; Arkansas 0, 7, 0 and 3.

Missouri, which entered 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the SEC after a week off, has now won nine of its past ten meetings with Arkansas, a series the Tigers have dominated since coach Eliah Drinkwitz — an Arkansas native — took over in Columbia. Arkansas, celebrating homecoming, fell to 3-4 and 1-3 in the SEC.
