John Washington III Says Both Parties Operate Under the Same System, and Asks Who Is Really Benefiting
Presidential candidate John Washington III called the political system a joke, argued that Democrats and Republicans both operate under the same system of laws, taxes and regulations, and said that, as a Democrat, he will not pretend everything his own party does is right.

“This political system is a joke! It's time to question the entire system!” Presidential candidate John Washington III wrote in a statement on Tuesday addressed to the American people, the Democratic Party, the Republican Party and every government official in the country.
John Washington III asked how long Americans will continue allowing a political system to control their lives, exercise power over them and take their hard-earned money without questioning how that power is being used. Both parties, he wrote, operate under the same political system: both participate in passing laws, collecting taxes, creating regulations and exercising governmental authority over the American people.
If both political parties are supposed to be fighting for the people, John Washington III asked, why do so many Americans continue to feel they are the ones being taken advantage of, and why is the argument always about Democrats and Republicans instead of the system both parties operate under? “Who is really benefiting? Who is really being represented? And who is actually holding these people accountable?” he wrote.
John Washington III wrote that every election season, politicians promise to fight for the people, protect their rights, lower their taxes and change the system. “But what happens after they get elected?” he wrote. “Where is the change? Where is the accountability? Where is the fight for the American people?” He asked why the political system seems to continue operating the same way regardless of which party holds office.
“Let me make something perfectly clear!” John Washington III wrote. “I am a member of the Democratic Party! But that does not mean I'm going to sit here and pretend that everything the Democratic Party does is right!”
