Austin Weather, Monday Night: 80.4 Degrees and Overcast, Election Day's Rain Chance at 70 Percent and a Thunderstorm Code on Thursday
Austin was still warm and grey at 80.4 degrees on Monday night, and the station's live feed put Election Day's rain chance at 70 percent with a high of 77 - before a clear Wednesday and a thunderstorm code, on a low rain chance, on Thursday.

Austin held onto the warmth into Monday night. The station's live Open-Meteo feed, read at 7:04 p.m., put the city at 80.4 degrees, feeling like 83.1, under weather code 3 - overcast skies - at the close of a Monday that topped out at 84.8 degrees with a low of 65.6 and just a 4 percent precipitation chance.
Tuesdays file is the one voters will feel. Election Day, November 3, carries weather code 63 - rain - with a 70 percent precipitation chance, a high of 77.0 and a low of 59.3 in the feed read this run. The chance climbed from 67 percent at the 17:04 read, while the code eased a step from 65 to 63; either way, the feed is calling Election Day a wet one in Austin, and anyone heading to a polling place should plan for rain during the 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. voting hours.
Wednesday clears out completely in the current feed - code 0, mainly clear, a high of 78.4, a low of 53.6 and no precipitation chance. Thursday is the odd line in the week: the code firms to 95, the feed's thunderstorm code, with a high of 80.6 - but the precipitation chance attached to it is only 7 percent, so the desk is carrying it exactly as the feed states it, a thunderstorm code on a low chance, and will update it as the week firms up.
The rest of the week settles cooler. Friday runs overcast at 70.9 and 58.1 with a 3 percent chance, Saturday overcast at 72.9 and 58.4 with the chance back up to 29 percent, and Sunday mainly clear at 74.7 and 59.0 with a 14 percent chance. The next scheduled weather file is Tuesday's 05:00 Election Day file, which will carry the rain picture as polls open.
