Austin Late-Evening Weather: Halloween Warms to 79 With Drizzle at 18 Percent, Sunday Fog Cools to 83, and Election Day Thunderstorms Hold at 58 Percent (AUSTIN CAPITAL NEWS)

Austin's Halloween forecast warmed up after dark. The station's live weather feed, powered by Open-Meteo and read by this desk late Friday evening, put the city at 65.9 degrees and overcast shortly after 10 p.m., with Friday's rain chance holding at 75 percent - and it revised Saturday upward and wetter: a high near 79.1, up from 76.3 in the early-evening file, with the day's weather code strengthening to drizzle (code 53) at an 18 percent rain chance.

That still leaves Halloween workable, just warmer and damper than the evening file promised. The 6:30 p.m. Texas-Mississippi State kickoff at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and the evening's trick-or-treating both sit in the upper 70s sliding toward the mid-60s overnight, with drizzle possible rather than rain likely - a costume that breathes and a light layer for the walk home covers it, and the Sixth Street crowds downtown will be warm for late October.

Sunday changed character, too. The feed cooled Sunday's high from 86.6 to 82.8 and put fog (code 45) on the morning - worth knowing for anyone driving early, on the morning after the clocks fall back at 2 a.m. Sunday. Monday eases further: overcast, a high near 84.7, and rain chances down to 11 percent.

The week's fixed point remains Election Day. Tuesday carries the feed's thunderstorm signal (code 95), a high near 78.5, a low near 67.3 and rain chances of 58 percent - a three-point uptick from the evening file, and still the wettest day on the board for voters heading to the polls between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday clears behind the storms, sunny with a high near 76.8 and rain chances at 1 percent, and Thursday stays dry and mild near 81. The desk refreshes the Halloween and Election Day pictures with Saturday morning's files as the drizzle and storm timing firm up.
