Carlos Alcaraz Beats Alex de Minaur 6-1, 6-4 to Win Vienna for the First Time — His Fourth Title of 2026
The final looked set up for a fight after De Minaur stunned the new world No. 1 in the semifinals. Instead Alcaraz took the first set in 37 minutes, closed it in an hour and 28, and made it seven wins in seven meetings with the Australian.

Carlos Alcaraz won the Vienna Open for the first time in his career on Sunday, brushing aside Alex de Minaur 6-1, 6-4 in the Erste Bank Open final in one hour and 28 minutes, Tennis365 reported. It is Alcaraz's fourth title of 2026 and the 28th of his career.
The first set was a rout that the numbers only half explain. De Minaur landed 79 percent of his first serves — and won just 48 percent of those points, as Alcaraz broke the set open and took it 6-1 in 37 minutes. Alcaraz, who missed more than four months of the season with a wrist injury, had to work harder in the second set but was, in the report's words, comfortable enough in closing out a straight-sets win. He had reached the final by beating Daniil Medvedev 6-4, 7-6(2) on Saturday, Reuters reported.
De Minaur leaves Vienna with plenty. His semifinal upset of new world No. 1 Alexander Zverev — 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(4) — was one of the wins of his career, and the runner-up finish puts him on 3,210 points in the Race to Turin, one point ahead of Rafael Jodar for the last ATP Finals qualifying place, with the Paris Masters still to decide it this week. For Alcaraz the title is worth 500 ranking points — and a clean run of form, without dropping the final, heading into the same Paris week.
