Longhorns Leap to No. 11 in the AP Poll After 34-27 Win Over Ole Miss in Austin
Texas made the biggest jump in the AP Top 25 on Sunday, climbing eight spots after holding off Ole Miss at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium — and now the Longhorns host Mississippi State.

The Texas Longhorns are the biggest risers in college football this week. Sunday's AP Top 25 moved Texas from No. 19 to No. 11 — the largest leap in the poll — after Saturday's 34-27 win over then-No. 7 Ole Miss in Austin. Texas also sits at No. 11 in the Coaches Poll.
The win nearly got away. Texas built a 24-3 halftime lead, then watched Ole Miss score 21 unanswered points and recover an onside kick with 1:20 to play. An interception in the end zone sealed the victory, snapping the Longhorns' two-game losing streak and improving Texas to 5-2.
Arch Manning finished 18-of-30 for 212 yards with a touchdown pass and two interceptions, and added two rushing touchdowns. Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns but was intercepted three times.
Next up, Texas hosts Mississippi State in Austin. The Bulldogs arrive on a three-game losing streak after Saturday's 23-15 loss to Oklahoma, and may be without quarterback Kamario Taylor, who appeared to aggravate a turf toe injury in that game, according to Burnt Orange Nation's reporting.
