Husker Volleyball: No. 1 Nebraska Rallies Past Michigan 3-1 for a Program-Record 53rd Straight Regular-Season Win (AUSTIN CAPITAL NEWS)

The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team lost a first set on Friday night and then reminded a record crowd why it has not lost a regular-season match in two years. The Huskers rallied to beat Michigan 26-28, 25-20, 25-20, 25-14 at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, their 53rd consecutive regular-season victory and a new program record.

The mark passes the 52 straight regular-season wins Nebraska put together across the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Nebraska improved to 22-0 overall and 11-0 in the Big Ten, and the search interest followed: 'husker volleyball' was the highest-volume entry on the U.S. trending list read by this desk on Saturday, at 20,000 or more searches.

Michigan nearly took more than the opener. Nebraska saved six set points in the first set before falling 28-26, only the fifth set the Huskers have dropped all season. From there the offense took over: Nebraska hit .412 as a team, its fourth match this season at .400 or better, and finished with a 68-56 advantage in kills.

Five Huskers reached double-digit kills for the first time since 2021. Harper Murray, an Ann Arbor native whose father played football for Michigan, led with 16 kills, and Virginia Adriano set a career high with 14 while hitting .500. The match drew 12,707 fans, matching the Crisler Center volleyball attendance record.

The road does not ease up. Nebraska plays again Saturday afternoon at No. 25 Michigan State, with first serve at 3:30 p.m. Central, carrying the new record and the No. 1 ranking into East Lansing.
