The Chicago Bears beat the Seattle Seahawks 34-17 on Monday night at Lumen Field to close Week 8, improving to 6-2 and moving within a half-game of the NFC North lead. Seattle, the defending champion, fell to 4-4 with its first loss of 2026 by more than three points, USA TODAY reported.

The defense set the terms. Chicago held Seattle to 252 yards and 1-for-11 on third down, with five three-and-outs, NBC Sports reported, and Jeffery Simmons - acquired from the Titans on Thursday - marked his Bears debut with a team-leading six tackles, a sack, a pass defensed and two tackles for loss. Sam Darnold finished 17-of-34 for 188 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, was sacked three times, and had a tipped pass intercepted and returned to the Seattle 6; Jaxon Smith-Njigba's six catches for 118 yards and a touchdown were Seattle's bright spot.

Caleb Williams went 24-of-34 for 247 yards and a touchdown as Chicago gained 363 yards, and D'Andre Swift scored all three of his touchdowns in the second half - runs of 1, 5 and 5 yards - on 27 carries for 69 yards. Seattle also hurt itself: three second-half unnecessary-roughness penalties, a missed extra point, and a blocked 33-yard field goal.
